The third day of the Farr 40 Midwinter Championship hosted by San Diego Yacht Club sailed outside the harbor on Coronado Rhodes.
The Farr 40
is a 40 foot one-design sailboat designed by Farr Yacht Design
in 1996 following after the Mumm 30
. It is currently built by US Watercraft. It was originally designed under the International Measurement System
(IMS) rule, but quickly become popular and developed its own one-design class. In 1997, the world’s first Farr 40 One Design was launched at Carroll Marine in Newport, Rhode Island
with the hope of creating an exciting new one-design class that could compete on the international stage. The class has held International Sailing Federation
recognised class status since 1997. By 2008, the class numbers over 137 boats.
