The third day of the Farr 40 Midwinter Championship hosted by San Diego Yacht Club sailed outside the harbor on Coronado Rhodes.
The
Farr 40 is a 40 foot one-design sailboat designed by
Farr Yacht Design in 1996 following after the
Mumm 30. It is currently built by US Watercraft. It was originally designed under the
International Measurement System (IMS) rule, but quickly become popular and developed its own one-design class. In 1997, the world’s first Farr 40 One Design was launched at Carroll Marine in
Newport, Rhode Island with the hope of creating an exciting new one-design class that could compete on the international stage. The class has held
International Sailing Federation recognised class status since 1997. By 2008, the class numbers over 137 boats.
